Therapy Dog in training:

Please note we do have a puppy at McGowan Physio. She is a mini Dachshund and is in training to be a therapy dog at the clinic. If you have a fear of dogs, an allergy or for any reason wish her to not be present when you are at the clinic please let us know.

Daniella’s passion for anatomy and biomechanics drew her to Pilates, beginning her training in São Paulo/Brazil in 2005.

During her 19 years as a Pilates instructor she has continued to develop her teaching method. Her study led her to qualify in the internationally recognized and respected Stott method of Pilates, receiving her Mat / Reformer / Chair / Cadillac certification with honors in 2017.

Danielle graduated with a Doctor of Physical Therapy from University of Delaware in the United States in 2019.

Danielle has a special interest in the hypermobile athlete and in particular knee and spinal injuries. She has completed further training in the areas of physiotherapy for the performing artist, dancers with foot and ankle injuries, knee injuries and tendon conditions.

Danielle has experience working in varied outpatient settings and is especially passionate about injury prevention and rehabilitating athletes in performance sports such as gymnastics, dance, roller skating and figure skating. In addition, she has experience working with adolescent athletes, especially as a figure skating coach and as an outdoor activity leader for hiking, cycling, and canoeing excursions.

Roisin Flynn is a senior Occupational Therapist who graduated in 2000 from The University of Ulster.

Roisin has over 20 years of experience working with both adults and children, in a wide range of different services ranging from acute general hospitals to spinal and brain injury rehabilitation units. She has seven years of experience assessing children with a range of different conditions, such as Sensory Processing Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD / Dyspraxia).

Roisin has a keen interest in coordination disorders and sensory processing and is working towards achieving her Certificate in Ayres Sensory Integration Therapy. In addition, Roisin has completed further education in Integrating Neuro-developmental Treatment with Sensory Integration Therapy, assessment of visual perceptual disorders in children, Sensory Integration module 1, Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale (ADOS-2), assessing developmental coordination disorder and CLASI module 3 in Sensory Integration.

Deirbhle is a pain specialist physio. She graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2012 and completed a M.Sc in Advanced Physiotherapy Studies in UCD in 2016. She possesses 10+ years of experience working in both public and private practice Physiotherapy in Ireland, New Zealand and Australia.

Deirbhle’s mission is to help people feel more confident to move in their bodies and to live a more active and fun life. For some, this may be about getting back to daily tasks of school or work or for others returning to a regular gym plan or optimising sports performance.

Deirbhle has a particular interest in working with people who have complex spinal or musculoskeletal conditions, persistent pain conditions or chronic illness who may benefit from a more long-term approach to management of their health.

Niamh is a scoliosis specialist physio. She graduated from University of Ulster in 2012 and was awarded the Silver Cup, a prize for top marks in the practical element of the Physiotherapy course. She has since worked in Ireland North and South as well as in Vancouver, Canada.

Niamh’s main focus is helping people with spinal conditions. The main conditions she works with are scoliosis, kyphosis and spinal fractures. She works with people pre and post op as well as those trying to avoid the need for surgery.

Niamh is trained in the Schroth method for Scoliosis management. She is trained in both ISST and BSPTS. They are both forms of treatment that focus on the conservative management of scoliosis. Team work is an important part of the management of spinal conditions and Niamh work closely with the Orthotist, Ciarnaid Hayes and has referral pathways with many of the Orthopaedic Spinal Consultants. She is also linked in with various pieces of research ongoing regarding scoliosis.

Garett has a special interest in hypermobility and in PoTS. He has a huge amount of hands-on experience and in working with people of all ability levels from elite athlete to those with severe disability.

Garett graduated from Dalhousie University in Canada in 2005 with his Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy, and completed further studies in 2014 with a Masters in Sports & Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy from Griffith University in Australia.

Garett has completed further courses in acupuncture/dry needling, manipulative physiotherapy, shoulder rehabilitation, and BSPTS course for scoliosis. He is also researching and developing educational resources for scoliosis patients as part of his PhD at UCD.

Garett has worked in numerous private practice and sports settings in Canada and Australia before relocating to Dublin in 2016. He has particular experience in treating adolescent injuries for those in gymnastics, soccer, rugby, taekwondo and for various snow sports (skiing/snowboarding, ice hockey, figure skating), in addition to adult runners and rowers. He also worked in the World and Pan-Pacific Masters Games, which provided added experience in the injuries of the older athlete.
